Therapy and Support for Parents in Westlake Village, CA
You love your kid. Some days you don't like them very much. That's okay to say here.
You're doing everything you can. Reading the books, trying the strategies, holding your temper when every nerve in your body is screaming. And it's still not working.
Maybe your kid melts down every morning before school. Maybe bedtime is a nightly war. Maybe you've heard "have you tried being more consistent?" so many times you want to scream. Maybe you've Googled "what is wrong with my child" at midnight more times than you want to admit.
Here's what I want you to hear: nothing is wrong with your child. And nothing is wrong with you. What's missing are the right tools, the right support, and someone who actually understands what you're dealing with.
Parenting was never supposed to feel this hard.
That's where I come in.

The BCBA Difference
Most therapists listen. I also know how to change what's not working.
Here's what makes working with me different from other parent support: I'm both a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
That means two things happen in our work together.
01. First, I help you process what parenting is doing to you.
First, I help you process what parenting is doing to you. The guilt, the exhaustion, the grief of watching your child struggle, the loneliness of feeling like nobody understands your family. That's the therapy side.
02. Second, I give you a concrete, evidence-based plan for what to actually do differently at home.
Not vague advice. Not "just be more patient." Real strategies based on what's driving your child's behavior, designed specifically for your kid and your family. That's the BCBA side.
What I Help Parents With
-

Behavioral Challenges
The tantrums, the defiance, the emotional explosions that leave everyone in the house drained. I help you understand what's driving the behavior and respond in a way that actually changes the pattern.
-

ADHD and Executive Functioning
Your kid isn't lazy or "not trying hard enough." Their brain works differently. I help you build structure and strategies that work with their brain instead of against it.
-

Autism and Neurodivergent Parenting
Raising a neurodivergent child comes with joys and challenges most people don't understand. I help you support your child's development while protecting your own mental health.
-

Big Feelings and Emotional Regulation
When your child's emotions run the house. I teach you how to co-regulate, set boundaries that hold, and help your kid build their own emotional toolkit.
-

Communication Breakdowns
When nothing you say gets through. We work on connection first, then communication skills that actually land with your child, whatever their age.
-

Co-Parenting Conflict
Different households, different rules, different styles. I help you find common ground and create consistency your child can count on, even when you and your co-parent don't agree on everything.
-

Family Transitions
Divorce, remarriage, new baby, moving, loss. Transitions shake the whole family system. I help you support your child through it while also taking care of yourself.
-

Parent Burnout
You can't pour from an empty cup and you've been running on fumes for a while. Part of our work is making sure you're okay too. Because your wellbeing directly impacts your child's.

Parent therapy groups are also available.
Many parents do both. The combination of individual strategy and group connection is powerful.
Individual parent support gives you a personalized plan.
Group support gives you a room full of parents who get it. I offer groups specifically for parents, including a dedicated group for moms of neurodivergent children.

FAQs

Not necessarily. A lot of parent support work happens with just you. I teach you the skills and strategies, and you implement them at home. If it would be helpful to include your child in certain sessions, we'll discuss that together.
-
I work with parents of children and teens of all ages. Whether your child is 4 or 17, the principles of understanding behavior and building connection apply. The strategies are tailored to your child's developmental stage.
-
Family therapy typically brings everyone into the room together. Parent support at Phasma focuses on equipping you with skills and understanding. As a BCBA, I bring a behavioral lens that most family therapists don't have. You get both emotional support and a concrete behavior plan.

Most parents start seeing shifts within the first few weeks of implementing new strategies. Some changes are immediate. Deeper patterns take more time. I'll be honest with you about what to expect based on your specific situation.
-
Yes. I have over 16 years of experience working with children with ADHD, autism, developmental disabilities, anxiety, and behavioral challenges. My BCBA training means I design interventions based on your child's specific needs, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
-
Yes. Parent support works beautifully over telehealth. Many of my parent clients are across California, and we do all of our work virtually. In-person sessions are also available at my Westlake Village office.
